CITY OF NOGALES

COVID – 19  Response

Santa Cruz County identified a 33rd case of COVID-19 in the County. The case appears to be community spread, and demonstrates the importance of continued public health measures. According to data from Arizona Department of Health Services, 29 of the cases in Santa Cruz are reported to the zip codes of 85621 and 85648. 11 COVID-19 cases are reported to zip code 85621 and 18 COVID-19 cases are reported to zip code 85648. Of the 33 total cases reported in Santa Cruz County, 29 have recovered. State data does not currently report locations of the recoveries.

The Nogales City Manager directed Department heads to move forward with a return to normal worksite operations. After successfully implementing a plan that reduced the number of employees physically at the worksite by 50%, the decision was made to take the first step to returning to normal operations. On Monday May 4th, City of Nogales employees will return to their traditional worksites. The City’s decision reflects Governor Ducey’s efforts to reopen Arizona in a deliberate, careful manner. City buildings remain restricted to public access. While there are only 4 reported active COVID-19 cases in Santa Cruz County, health officials still indicate the potential for community spread
