CITY OF NOGALES

COVID – 19  Response

Santa Cruz County officials informed the City of Nogales of another confirmed case of COVID-19. This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Santa Cruz County to 8. It also marks the first week where a new case was identified each day. Last week, Santa Cruz County had 4 identified COVID-19 cases. There has been a 100% increase in COVID-19 cases in Santa County this week, and a 14% increase in testing for Santa Cruz County.

The recent increase in cases in Santa Cruz County demonstrates the importance of practicing CDC recommended social distancing and staying at home when possible.  The CDC recommends at least 6 feet of distance between people in public. Governor Ducey’s Executive Order called for Arizonians to Stay Safe, Stay Home, and Stay Connected. In a video available at www.covid19.nogalesaz.gov, Nogales Mayor Garino advised that if residents must go out, to go by themselves, if possible. This reduces the risk of exposure, and helps to keep Nogales families safe.
