Homework Tutor – (Nogales, Rio Rico, & NHA)

Responsibilities: Receives supervision and direction from the Library Director or designee. Greets students and assesses each one for subject area and grade level; groups students in areas by grade level. Works one-on-one with students that have difficulty with subject at hand. Alerts the Children Services Coordinator if they have a problem or need advice. While waiting for students, shelves books so they can show students where the materials are. Must have basic secondary knowledge of Math, English, and general Science courses. Skills in defining problems, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.

Education, Certification and Requirements: Must be attending high school (junior or senior) and have good grades (A’s and B’s) OR have graduated high school and currently attending local college.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with children. Knowledge of how to use computers. Familiarity of the way materials are stored in the library and willingness to learn the library system. English and Spanish language fluency.

Salary/Classification: Part-time position; FLSA non-exempt; $12.15 per hour

Senior Engineering Technician

Responsibilities: Receives supervision and direction from the City Engineer or designee. Performs civil engineer work, Reviews preliminary and final plats, Develops street and utility improvement plans, grading plans and field inspection / surveillance of City private projects, Evaluates hydrology/hydraulic, geotechnical and traffic impact reports, Provides written and oral responses to request for permits for floodplain use and for excavating, grading, utility and roadway improvements plans, Provides on-going modification, integration and maintenance of existing database for more efficient data calculations and estimates and in preparing plans and specifications, Reviews private project development plans for code compliance, regulations and standards, adequacy of applications for permits and compliance with approved plans, Performs site inspections to enforce the City’s Development Standards Code, Assists in project management for the construction of the municipal public works projects. 

Education, Certifications and Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, Two (2) years of engineering experience, Valid AZ State Driver’s License.
Within Six (6) months of Date of Hire: Must be registered in the State of Arizona as Engineer in training.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Spanish language fluency.

Streets Worker

Heavy Equipment Operator – Streets

Responsibilities: Receives general supervision from the City Engineer, Streets Superintendent, Streets Supervisor or designee. Operates a variety of light and heavy vehicles and equipment in the maintenance and repair of street, water and sewer lines, recreation and park projects, hauling and unloading of equipment, materials and supplies and other public works activities, Operates street sweeper, power roles, garbage trucks, trucks, and other large heavy vehicles, Operates construction and other equipment, including backhoes, front-end loaders and hydraulic excavators, Works with and assists line crews with digging ditches and trenches; hosting materials, tools and equipment; and other related activities, Operates compactors, concrete mixers, pneumatic hammers and air compressors.

Education, Certification and Requirements: High School Diploma or GED equivalent, One (1) year of Heavy Equipment and large vehicle operation OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience, Valid AZ State Class B Commercial driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications: Spanish language fluency, Experience in Heavy Equipment including backhoes, bob-tails, front-end loaders, and hydraulic excavators.

Cemetery Groundskeeper

Responsibilities: Receives supervision and direction from the Public Works Director or designee. Performs general cleaning and landscaping. Paints, cleans and performs minor repairs and preventive maintenance of equipment, water lines, sprinklers and irrigation lines. Operates landscape and maintenance equipment, including mowers, infield groomers, power tools and related items. Performs mowing, trimming and raking. Waters, edges, aerates and fertilizes grass. Collects trash; empties trash cans; transports to the City’s transfer station. May assist in the coordination of special activities held at the City Cemetery. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Education, Certification and Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Basic landscaping and maintenance experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid Arizona State Driver’s License.

Part-Time Fire Inspector

Communications Officer

Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision; performs highly responsible, specialized work in the daily operation of the Nogales Police Department Public Safety Communications Center. Works under the supervision and director of the Communications Supervisor or designee. Receives and dispatches 911 and routine calls for service; logs call assignments. Prioritizes calls for service dispatchers and appropriate number of agency officials for response. Monitors status of units in the field for availability and officer safety. Operates police/fire/medical radio and equipment. Conducts local, state and national system updates. Develops and maintains statistical data. Performs general office duties as assigned.

Police Officer

Responsibilites:

Under general supervision; performs public safety services within the City’s Police Department including patrol, K-9 and motor vehicle safety.
