Senior Court Clerk

Responsibilities: Receives supervision and direction from the City Magistrate, Court Manager, or designee. Must abide by the duties and responsibilities as set forth in the Job Description for Court Clerk. Assists with the training of Court Clerks in the court’s case management systems, operating systems, and overall clerk duties. Assists with the training of Court Clerks with the protective order process. Receives and accounts for fines, bonds, and other monies in accordance with the minimum accounting standards (MAS), and standard accounting procedures. Retrieves and submits monthly bond reports to the Magistrate. Opens mail and distributes contents as needed. Receives, stamps, and distributes citations and motions as needed. Performs daily financial reconciliation of cash drawers as needed. Assists in the daily, overall reconciliation of the court’s financial accounts and the preparation of monthly disbursements and financials reporting as needed. Reviews civil appeals for completeness prior to transmittal. Acts as overall supervisor for Court Clerks in the absence of the Court Manager. Assists the public in person, by email and over the phone with inquiries regarding court processes, regulations, and policies. Assists with the implementation, evaluation, and interpretation of departmental policies, projects, and procedures. Retrieves and maintains court data and statistics and assists with the Court’s mandatory reporting requirements. Maintains excellent customer service skills and assists Court Clerks with customers as needed. Performs other court or supervisory duties as required or assigned.

Education, Certification and Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent AND four (4) years Court Clerk experience AND proficiency in AJACS and other Court operating systems. Completion of sixteen (16) hours annually of mandatory continuing education at the expense of the Court. Compliance with the Judicial Code of Conduct for employees.

Preferred Qualifications: Associates Degree from an accredited college in Communication, Linguistics, Business, Administration, or related field. Spanish language fluency.
