Responsibilities: Receives supervision and direction from the Community Development Director. Conducts field inspections on residential and commercial structures for building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Reviews construction plans, including structural calculations and specifications for conformance to City codes. Prepares and processes plan review comments and inspection correction notices. Performs data entry into automated records system. Provides information and assistance to homeowners, architects, engineers, and contactors applying for building permits; reviews submitted information. Conducts investigations and writes reports of code violations and code complaints from the public. Conducts work stop orders on projects that are on a code violation or without a building permit; writes reports and performs follow-up. Responds to customer needs via phone or in-person regarding code questions or construction requirements; performs various office functions. Consults and coordinates with other City departments and/or external public agencies as necessary. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Education, Certifications and Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent AND five (5) years of plan review and building inspection experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Arizona State Driver’s license AND ICC Residential Building Inspector certification.
Preferred Qualifications: Spanish language fluency.
