Responsibilities: Receives general supervision from the Public Works Director, Wastewater Supervisor, Water Supervisor or designee. Operates a variety of light and heavy vehicles and equipment in the maintenance and repair of street, water and sewer lines, recreation and parks projects, hauling and unloading of equipment, materials and supplies, and other public works activities. Operates street sweeper, power rollers, garbage trucks, and other large heavy vehicles. Operates a dump truck as required in municipal construction projects, may be required to participate in other maintenance and repair tasks when not operating vehicles. Operates compactors, concrete mixers, pneumatic hammers, and air compressors. Performs cleaning and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant. Installs, operates, repairs, and maintains drainage lines and manholes; performs manhole fumigation. Responds to emergency calls regarding water quality, pressure, and leaks. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Education, Certification and Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent AND one (1) year of heavy equipment and large vehicle operation OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Arizona State Class B Commercial Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Heavy Equipment including backhoes, bob-tails, front-end loaders, and hydraulic excavators. Spanish language fluency.
Salary/Classification: Full-time position; FLSA non-exempt; Salary Range of 48 plus benefits as outlined in the City’s Personnel Manual.
