Responsibilities: Receives general supervision from the City Engineer, Streets Superintendent, Streets Supervisor, or designee. Operates a variety of light and heavy vehicles and equipment in the maintenance and repair of street, water and sewer lines, recreation and park projects, hauling and unloading of equipment, materials and supplies and other public works activities. Operates street sweeper, power roles, garbage trucks, trucks, and other large heavy vehicles. Operates construction and other equipment, including backhoes, front-end loaders and hydraulic excavators. Works with and assists line crews with digging ditches and trenches; hosting materials, tools and equipment; and other related activities. Operates compactors, concrete mixers, pneumatic hammers and air compressors. Responds to emergency calls regarding water quality, pressure, and leaks. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Education, Certification and Requirements: High School Diploma OR GED equivalent. One (1) year of heavy equipment and large vehicle operation, OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid Arizona State Class B Commercial Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Heavy Equipment including backhoes, bob-tails, front-end loaders, and hydraulic excavators. Spanish language fluency.
Salary/Classification: Full-time position; FLSA non-exempt; Salary Range 48 plus benefits outlined in the Personnel Manual.
