Responsibilities: Receives general supervision from the Fleet Manager, Public Works Director or designee. Consults with Fleet Manager or other mechanics to review operations/activities, review/resolve problems, receive advice/direction and provide recommendations. Performs scheduled preventative maintenance of vehicles, light, medium and heavy trucks, and specialized equipment. Washes, fuels, and services City motorized equipment that may include gasoline, diesel, natural gas and propane fuel types. Performs minor non-technical repairs such as replacing switches, fuses, flashers, headlights, taillights, belts, spark plugs, windshield wipers, tires and radiator hoses. Checks vehicle equipment fluid levels (transmission, power steering, brake, wiper, engine coolant and hydraulic fluids and replaces or refills as needed. Assists mechanics in repairs of motorized equipment. Maintains a clean and organized work environment. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Education, Certification and Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid Arizona driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications: Vocational/technical training in mechanics, automotive/mechanical maintenance, small engine repair, welding/fabrication, and vehicle/equipment operation.
Salary/Classification: Full-time position; FLSA non-exempt; Salary Range of 26 ($25,272 – $25,480) plus benefits as outlined in the City’s Personnel Manual.
