Responsibilities: Perform highly responsible administrative and supervisory work in planning, organizing and directing the general operations of the Planning & Zoning / Building Department. Responsibilities include: setting goals and deliverables department; manage department personnel; overseeing department budget; coordinate development, construction and permit review process; coordinates meetings, prepares agenda and reports for P&Z commission, Board of Adjustment, Cultural Heritage and City Council; coordinating projects; ensuring compliance with relevant laws, rules, policies, codes and regulations.
Education, Training, and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning and Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Public or Business Administration/Management or closely related field; Three (3) years of increasingly responsible administrative experience in municipal planning, economic development, code administration, private development or housing programs, engineering and/or construction management; OR an equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
License and Certification: Arizona State driver’s license; Certification and membership in the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) within one (1) year of hire date.
Preferred /Desired Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Urban Planning and Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Public or Business Administration/Management or a closely related field. Experience in the public sector.
Salary/Classification: Position is full time, At-Will, FLSA Exempt. Starting salary $90,464.62 annual + benefits.
