Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) Truck Driver – Street Department

Responsibilities: Receives general supervision from the City Engineer, Streets Superintendent, Streets Supervisor, or designee. Operates a variety of light and heavy vehicles and equipment in the maintenance and repair of street, water and sewer lines, recreation and park projects, hauling and unloading of equipment, materials and supplies and other public works activities. Operates street sweeper, power roles, garbage trucks, trucks, and other large heavy vehicles. Operates construction and other equipment, including backhoes, front-end loaders and hydraulic excavators. Works with and assists line crews with digging ditches and trenches; hosting materials, tools and equipment; and other related activities. Operates compactors, concrete mixers, pneumatic hammers and air compressors. Responds to emergency calls regarding water quality, pressure, and leaks. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Education, Certification and Requirements: High School Diploma OR GED equivalent. One (1) year of heavy equipment and large vehicle operation, OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid Arizona State Class B Commercial Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Heavy Equipment including backhoes, bob-tails, front-end loaders, and hydraulic excavators. Spanish language fluency.

Salary/Classification: Full-time position; FLSA non-exempt; Salary Range 48 plus benefits outlined in the Personnel Manual.

Paramedic (CEP) Firefighter – Dual Role Reserve

Responsibilities: Receives lead/functional supervision from the on scene Paramedic, Captain, Engineer, or designee. Responds to medical incidents and provides Basic Life Support (BLS), medical transportation services to patients, and fire suppression activities. Provides on-scene patient care. Maintains composure and makes medical assessments and patient care decisions in response to medical emergencies. Drives, navigates, and operates emergency transport vehicles requiring a standard Class D Arizona driver’s license. Takes patient vital signs. Sets up and monitors medical equipment including cardiac monitors, IVs, and defibrillators. Performs CPR. Climbs steps or ladders, navigates uneven surfaces and lifts and moves patients with assistance to treat and transport from scenes. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Education, Certifications and Requirements: High School Diploma OR GED equivalent and must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. Valid Arizona State driver’s license, Arizona paramedic certification (ALS), Arizona Fire I & II certification, and Hazmat Operations certification. Preferred Qualifications: Spanish language fluency.

Operates a dump truck as required in municipal construction projects, may be required to participate in other maintenance and repair tasks when not operating vehicles. Operates compactors, concrete mixers, pneumatic hammers, and air compressors. Performs cleaning and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant. Installs, operates, repairs, and maintains drainage lines and manholes; performs manhole fumigation. Responds to emergency calls regarding water quality, pressure, and leaks. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Education, Certification and Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent AND one (1) year of heavy equipment and large vehicle operation OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Arizona State Class B Commercial Driver’s License.
