Senior Engineering Technician

Responsibilities: Receives supervision and direction from the City Engineer or designee. Performs civil engineer work, Reviews preliminary and final plats, Develops street and utility improvement plans, grading plans and field inspection / surveillance of City private projects, Evaluates hydrology/hydraulic, geotechnical and traffic impact reports, Provides written and oral responses to request for permits for floodplain use and for excavating, grading, utility and roadway improvements plans, Provides on-going modification, integration and maintenance of existing database for more efficient data calculations and estimates and in preparing plans and specifications, Reviews private project development plans for code compliance, regulations and standards, adequacy of applications for permits and compliance with approved plans, Performs site inspections to enforce the City’s Development Standards Code, Assists in project management for the construction of the municipal public works projects. 

Education, Certifications and Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, Two (2) years of engineering experience, Valid AZ State Driver’s License.
Within Six (6) months of Date of Hire: Must be registered in the State of Arizona as Engineer in training.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Spanish language fluency.

Salary/Classification: Full-Time Position; FLSA Non-Exempt; Salary Range 49 plus benefits outlined in the Personnel Manual.

Part-Time Fire Inspector

Responsibilities: Receives supervision and direction from the Fire Chief and Battalion Chiefs, Performs building plan reviews (in general) on new construction, remodeling and additions to commercial properties in order to ensure conformance with the fire code or other city regulations, Performs construction progress inspections as needed, including but not limited to sprinkler and fire alarm installation and inspections and acceptance test, hydrant test and various other inspections, Performs routine fire and life safety inspections on business operating within the jurisdiction of the City of Nogales, Enforces the City fire code, oversees the issuance of fire code operational permits within the City, Periodically witnesses, documents and assesses proficiency in fire evacuation drills, Maintains, updates, files and monitors fire incidents requiring a Fire Investigator. 

Education, Certifications and Requirements: Az State Valid Driver’s License, BLS Healthcare Provider CPR certification, ICS-100, 200, 700, 800 certification, Fire Inspector I & II Certification, Public Educator or Instructor 1 certification.

Within One (1) Year of Date of Hire:  Fire Arson Investigator (recognized), Plan Examiner (recognized) Haz Mat Operations Certification.

Preferred Qualifications: Spanish language fluency, Fire Arson I thru IV, Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution in Public or Business Administration, Fire Science or related field, AZ EMT certification.

Salary/Classification: Part-Time Position; FLSA Non-Exempt; Salary Range 53.

Communications Officer

Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision; performs highly responsible, specialized work in the daily operation of the Nogales Police Department Public Safety Communications Center. Works under the supervision and director of the Communications Supervisor or designee. Receives and dispatches 911 and routine calls for service; logs call assignments. Prioritizes calls for service dispatchers and appropriate number of agency officials for response. Monitors status of units in the field for availability and officer safety. Operates police/fire/medical radio and equipment. Conducts local, state and national system updates. Develops and maintains statistical data. Performs general office duties as assigned.

Education, Certifications and Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent, OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. AZ Criminal Justice Information System Terminal A Certification, Public Safety Operator training program certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
Three (3) years of responsible Police Communications or Records experience, Spanish Language fluency.

Salary/Classification:
Full-Time Position; FLSA Exempt; Salary Range 33 ($25,272 – $33,714) plus benefits outlined in the Personnel Manual.

Police Officer

Responsibilites:

Under general supervision; performs public safety services within the City’s Police Department including patrol, K-9 and motor vehicle safety. Performs law enforcement activities as Arizona certified police officer, responds to calls for service, investigates and enforces City and State criminal codes and laws, prepares police reports, conducts traffic control during traffic congestion hours and during vehicle accidents, completes statistical traffic reports for the State of Arizona, assists other law enforcements agencies upon request, Install child’s restraints in public vehicles, supports the relationship between the City of Nogales and the general public.

Education and Certifications Required:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent; One (1) year of law enforcement experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience, AZ POST certification, Valid AZ Driver’s License, MUST successfully complete background and polygraph examination, successful completion of physical testing and examination, U.S. Citizen, Must be 21 years of age or older.

Spanish Language Fluency

Salary/Classification:

Position is full time, FLSA: Non-Exempt.  Salary Range 42 ($30,053 – 42,104) plus benefits as outlined in the City of Nogales Personnel Manual.
